What is Title 1?
Title 1 is federal funding allotted to schools with the purpose of helping all disadvantaged children reach rigorous state academic standards expected of all children. Title I funds can be used for instructional activities, parental involvement, and program improvement. In return, school districts and states must meet accountability requirements for raising student performance. The funding is determined by the percentage of free and reduced lunch numbers in our district and school.
Title 1 at Miami
Miami is a Schoolwide Title 1 Program. Our funding is able to benefit ALL students in our school. Our Title 1 Funding provides salaries for intervention teachers who work with students in small groups for math and reading instruction. The funding also provides supplemental materials for classrooms, after-school programs, and support for Family Involvement activities.
